So now you know about me, and about my goals, but what about this tumblog? You might be wondering how it’s going to work.

I started this tumblog as a way to inspire myself to keep up with my goals. I’ve tried to lose weight before, and it’s never really worked - I always ended up giving up after a little while. This time it’s going to be different. This time I’m keeping track of everything both here and on my myfitnesspal account, and I’ll be able to track my own progress.

I’m also hoping that I’ll build up some sort of a support group - if I’m lucky, I’ll get some followers, either people who are similarly trying to lose weight or feel comfortable with themselves, or maybe some Karen/Naya lovers. Either way, I’m hoping that having people supporting me and watching me will help me stay on track! So please consider following this tumblr and giving me feedback about how I’m doing - positive, or negative, anything helps!

In order to track my progress on this tumblr, every day I’m going to try to record (sometimes with pictures) my weigh-in, the food I’ve eaten, and the exercise that I’ve completed. Once a week, usually on Saturday, I’ll post a picture of myself to try and get a visual sense of what progress I’m making, as well as the measurements from that week.

And, of course, there will be a healthy sprinkling of Karen and Naya (as well as other skinny girls) between the posts about me, in order to keep up my inspiration!

Hey :)

I’m not going to tell you much about me, because I want this to be a mostly anonymous blog. But here are the basics:

  • I’m 18
  • I’m (obviously) a Doctor Who fan as well as a Gleek. I love lots of other stuff - reading, harry potter, the jonas brothers, audrey hepburn, emma watson, being a nerdfighter - but you don’t really need to know about that.
  • Uhhh I feel like there should be a third bullet point here, but I ran out of things to say.

You might be wondering why I want to lose weight. “But,” you’ll say, “you’re perfectly normal! You look fine!”

Thank you, really, I appreciate it. And I do agree, somewhat. I think that mainstream culture has totally warped women into needing to be a part of the “skinny ideal”, and to an extent that’s not okay. There’s nothing wrong with curves, and in fact, they can be incredibly sexy.

But it all depends on what makes you comfortable with yourself. At the moment, I do not feel comfortable in my skin. Maybe it’s all in my head, and probably it’s because of society, but the fact remains that I’m not happy. And so, I’ve decided to change some bad habits of mine.

I’m not changing my personality. I’m not changing myself. I’m changing my bad eating habits and exercise habits, and I’m entering into a healthier lifestyle. Along the way, I’m hoping to slim down and be happier with the way that I look.

Please respect this. I’m not saying skinny is better. I’m not advocating eating disorders. I’m just saying that everyone should be comfortable in their own skin, and if being skinnier (and healthier!) helps me be more comfortable, then that’s what I’m going to do.
